Sprint and Marathon

Sprint

Sprint is one of the two paddling disciplines that are competed at the Olympic Games. Distances of 200m, 500m and 1000m
are raced. Those with fast reactions, good strength and technique, and who are prepared to train hard will do best.
Sprint regattas are held over the warmer months (November to April) and culminate in the State and National titles.
The club offers expert coaching to sprint paddlers.

The sprint event calendar is organised through Canoeing Victoria. Details can be found here.

Marathon

Marathon paddling requires good endurance but is also a highly tactical sport like road cycling. Races are conducted over
varying distances depending on age and fitness levels; from 6 to 32km generally, but there are also some
ultra-marathon events covering much greater distances. Marathon races are held throughout the year. The club offers
expert coaching to marathon paddlers.

The marathon event calendar is organised through Canoeing Victoria. Details can be found here.
